MUsic Therapy approach
“As a music therapist, I value the client first. I focus on honing individual skills for clients to improve their self-esteem and confidence as they continue to progress on larger goals in music therapy. I believe each client has the potential for progress. I am a strong believer in celebrating strengths and small victories. Sessions with my clients are led by preferences, meaning clients are given many choices and options for communication to improve their engagement and our therapeutic relationship as a whole. I am a neurodiversity-affirming clinician, and I view our time in sessions as the client’s time to be present with music while I serve as the vehicle to help them progress on their goals. When appropriate, I will engage the client’s family in sessions, and this often leads to even greater results for the client. By creating an empathetic, engaging, and enjoyable environment, I am honoring the client’s needs and individuality.”
